Carpal Tunnel Pain
If you’re reading this article chances are you probably already know all too well what carpal tunnel syndrome is. Your wrists are likely in pain right now.

Or they feel numb, or tingly, or the pain is radiating up your entire arm. It depends on the day, of course, but it’s never good.

You’ve probably tried just about everything to get rid of the pain. Set up your work situation up more ergonomically. Started taking breaks and doing stretches. You might even wear a splint at night. But there might be something you haven’t tried.

The oil you need to try

Flaxseed oil! Or linseed oil. Whatever you want to call it, it works.

A recently published study out of the Tehran University of Medical Studies discovered that applying flaxseed oil directly to your wrists can relieve the pain and help you regain some mobility.

A group of 100 participants was split into two groups. One was given a placebo oil to use, while the other was given linseed oil. They were instructed to rub the oil on their wrists every day for a month and to wear a wrist splint at night.

At the end of the month both groups were given a function assessment and asked to fill out a Boston Carpal Tunnel Questionnaire. The group who used flaxseed oil saw a significant drop in their pain and reported a great improvement in mobility.

Why it works

It is thought that flaxseed oil is so effective because of all the nutrients it contains. In particular it is full of omega-3 fatty acids, which are great at relieving inflammation. Almost half of flaxseed oil is fatty acid.

Though the other half is good too, containing protein, B-vitamins, and antioxidants. It is a great source of a special lignan antioxidant that is especially good for fighting inflammation.

Because your skin absorbs these beneficial nutrients, it’s not surprising that applying some oil directly to your wrist can help relieve pain. Of course, it’s all also worth taking a spoonful with your dinner, which has the added benefits of helping to prevent heart disease, diabetes, and dementia.
