2. Immediately upon waking up in the morning, take the thermometer and put it firmly under your armpit. Hold it in place for 10 minutes.
3. After 10 minutes, remove the thermometer and check the reading. Write it down. The temperature should be between 36.5° and 36.8°. Note that fluctuations may occur for women who have regular menstrual cycles.
If your temperature is less than 36.5, you may have an underactive thyroid gland. If your temperature is higher than 36.8, your thyroid may be working too hard.
Check your temperature three days in a row to see if your temperature is consistent.
